A Phone Recorder May Be a Customers Helper to Get Courteous and Gracious Service
The eaterie business can seriously benefit from the use of a telephone recorder. My family and I run a new cafe and amidst all the idiocy I figured we ought to have a phone recorder. It definitely proved beneficial while remodeling our building as far as maintaining a tally of conversations with the construction people and vendors so I thought it would be useful at running the eaterie.
I need to say that having recorded chats was useful when a cut off point was missed by the construction crew. I also had a mix up with the bar stools that were to be delivered. I had gone into the showroom and selected an auburn finish. The boss called me to double check what color I had wanted as it was left blank on the order form and I told him auburn. The stools were delivered and they were black. I called him back and told him they had sent the incorrect stools. He attempted to assert it was my mistake and I would pay a restocking charge. I kindly explained that unfortunately it was their mistake and I wouldn’t be paying a restocking charge because I had it on a recorded call that I wanted the stools in the auburn finish. He backed down and exchanged the stools at no charge to me.
I’ve found that employing a phone recorder in the daily business of the eaterie has been helpful. Ordinarily when vendors call I write all of the info down but as we’re all humans i did make a mistake. When I ordered 2x as much cabbage as was necessary for our BarBQ Bonanza event and I had to pay for my mistake. It was my inaccuracy and I had a recorded call to prove it.
I have also reviewed the calls our buyers make to our main desk to make reservations. I review these calls to be certain the staff is being courteous and amicable to every consumer. The staff knows the line is recorded and that at any point the call could be reviewed. We have used some of the calls for training purposes and of course to raise moral by praising our staff who do a good job. In the final analysis I suspect this phone recording device has paid for itself in the ways it has helped me protect our business.
